Maximize Your Performance

Here are a few tips to get you going to maximize your performance. Not all inclusive but great ideas!

Prioritize mental peace, stretching, and sunlight. You don’t need to meditate but it is very beneficial for you. Yoga too. Or just the basic stretching will do the trick! Make time for yourself daily preferably earlier in the day and, if possible, again in middle and end of your day. Go outside and take in some sunlight or even just the UV rays on a cloudy day can boost your vitamin D uptake, your mood, and your immune system.

Less is more. Try to minimize the caffeine you absorb on a daily basis. Also, try to avoid any caffeine until at least an hour after wake-up. Drink water to start the day. For me, drinking caffeine (even green tea) after Noon can negatively affect my sleep quality.

Master your addictions. Whether it is to caffeine, alcohol, social media, or overthinking. Compulsive overthinking is one of the worst. Meditation helps clear your mind and minimize your mind taking control. Tame that monkey!

Avoid checking your social media, emails, texts, phone, etc when you wake up. Keep the “outside noise” out and work on your inner self first. Do your most difficult brain work earlier in the day and before the less intensive items. Now this leads to the next.

Time blocking. Mind interval training. Work hard and focused for shorter bursts of time. 2-3 hour blocks. Maybe begin with less time and work your way up. 3 hour windows work best for me. Try to avoid interacting with “outside world” during that time and focus on that ONE project or task.

I will stop there as Less is More. More ideas to come…
