The Recovery Math: A 50% Drop in a 2020 Treasury vs Bitcoin-Backed Digital Credit

๐จ A 20+yr Treasury bought in 2020 is down about half. At 1.6%, it takes about 31 years of coupons to earn it back to $100.
How Long the Income Takes to Earn It Back
- $SATA pays 13%. Down 50%, the income earns it back in under 4 years.
- $SATS at $90: about 3 years.
- $STRC pays 12%. Down 50%, the income earns it back in about 4 years.
If the dividends keep coming.
The Catch Is the Word “If”
A 50% drop in a bitcoin-backed preferred usually means the funding window shut, and that is when a cumulative dividend can be deferred. A Treasury coupon never stops. A preferred coupon has a condition inside it. The weekly report watches it.
Treasury Breakeven: What Bitcoin Has to Do
What bitcoin has to do for the coupons to keep coming: grow about 8% a year on Strive’s dividend bill after $SATS, about 2% on Strategy’s. Below that the pile shrinks. The issuers are starting to call it treasury breakeven.
