ASTS’s Onboard Compute Could Open a Second Revenue Stream

AST SpaceMobiles next layer of optionality is sitting inside the satellites it is already launching.

Each satellite carries 10 GHz of onboard processing. Management said that AI edge compute, radar and IoT applications can be built on the existing architecture, with some opportunities potentially partner funded.

That matters because it expands the revenue surface without requiring a completely different constellation. The core thesis remains space-based cellular broadband, but the same hardware may support additional workloads as deployment scales.

The market is mostly valuing ASTS on subscriber connectivity and contracted backlog. Onboard compute is not yet in the base case. If partners fund the buildout, it could become incremental upside with limited balance-sheet burden.
