AST SpaceMobile’s Carrier JV Is the Real Q2 Signal
AST SpaceMobiles Q2 release had one sentence worth more than the whole print: a joint venture planned by the top three U.S. mobile carriers to enable space-based cellular broadband for every American.
The rest of the stack matters too. ASTS ended the quarter with $1.3 billion of contracted backlog, but the carrier partnership is the strategic signal. It points to distribution, spectrum access, and a path to making direct-to-device coverage a network feature rather than a niche experiment.
Revenue will still need to scale and execution will still matter. But when the largest carriers begin describing the architecture in their own words, the market should stop treating ASTS as only a satellite company and start valuing the network optionality.
